Understanding Dog Health Problems, Symptoms, and Ailments
By Jim Grassi

If your like me, you can take one look at your dog and know that something just is not right! It can be the droopy walk, the sad and lonely look, or just the behavioral patterns being demonstrated. Understanding these health problems, symptoms, and ailments can be very complicated, but if your in tune with your pet and take appropriate care, you can easily isolate many of the most common challenges.

Dieting in your dog is one of the foundational elements to keeping a healthy pet. Many times we overlook the need for proper diet in our own busy and hectic lives. Living on fast food as life is so hectic. Taking the time to understand the basic ingredients in dog food, the vitamins and minerals that they need, and the proper portion controls at their age and weight can be a huge difference in their overall swagger.

Exercise is a key foundation in healthy dogs as well. Keeping them in a house throughout the day just is not conducive to an animal that is built to run and be outdoors. Much like a child, a dog must get out of the house and get its daily exercise. Making a schedule for a daily walk or run is just as good for you as it is for them.

Regular check-ups to the vet are also a must. Much like us, are pet needs to be seen regularly by their veterinarians for check-ups? These check-ups in many cases will alert us early to problems, diseases, needed vaccinations, and even dental problems. Our dogs are not always able to tell us when something is wrong, so it leaves the ball in our court to be proactive to their needs.

Take the time to learn more about each of the items discussed, but it will only scratch the surface of being a responsible and well-educated pet owner. The most important thing you, a pet owner can do is take the time to study, educate yourself, and learn the proper care techniques for your dog that will lead to, and give you a happy, healthy, and safe pet!

Dog Health Problems - Important Information You Need
By Mason Joseph

Dog and puppy owners need to be sure they understand a few dog health problems basics so they can help their pets if by chance they contract one of the common dog health problems.

Seems like over the years there has been a lot of really bad advice handed down from generation to generation of dog owners. Strangely enough, lots of people still think that if their dog has a cold nose, then the dog is healthy. Not only is that untrue, because there is nothing that links a cold and wet nose to good dog health, but believing that may actually turn out to be harmful to the dog. Their owner may miss some of the more common dog health problems like worms, mange mites, heart disease or any other canine health condition.

Owners who are really paying attention to their dogs good health need to let go of such beliefs that have no basis in science and instead focus on looking at the overall condition of the dog including regular physical checks of the eyes, teeth, ears, mouth and skin for any abnormalities that could be signs and symptoms of a particular disease.

A truly knowledgeable dog owner needs to be sure they provide the care that their dog needs, including a healthy diet (some treats are OK), visits to the vet, and regular grooming so that their pets can enjoy long and healthy lives.

There are a number of common conditions that can strike even the best cared for dog. And it's a really good idea in the age of easy access to information for pet owners to take a look through some of the great websites available for helping them take care of their dogs' health.

For instance, canine heart disease is a disturbingly common canine health issue that could easily be mistaken for everyday listlessness on the dog's part. Without the dog's owner finding out a little information about the signs and symptoms of canine heart disease, the signs might be missed.

Now its not that the internet should be a substitute for good care by a vet, but there are many conditions that could be helped be the dog owner if they just knew what to look for before they talked with the vet. It is always a good idea to have as much information as possible so you can talk intelligently with the vet when you call or take your dog in for a visit.

Dog Insurance - 7 Points to Consider - Can Pet Insurance Help With My Dog's Healthcare?
By David Stewart

Dog health care is part of owning a dog. It can be a major expense at times with some procedures being several thousand dollars. But planning ahead can help relieve the burden, just as your own health insurance can help with your doctor bills. Consider health insurance for your dog but when you do consider these 7 items.

1. What's covered?

This is the basic question we all ask when looking at insurance. With insurance for your dog, make sure you understand what is covered in the way of accidents versus illnesses. Are routine visits and vaccinations covered and if its an option, is it worth it? I have seen plans where it just financially did not make sense to get the vaccination/well checkup option. Be sure to check the benefits schedule.

2. How are payments made?

Once you incur an expense, is the money sent to you or is the payment made directly to the veterinarian's office? If payment is made to the vet directly, does that mean you have to go to certain vets who accept the insurance plan?.

3. What's the turnaround time?

How long does it take to get reimbursed for expenses? Ask about their policies and track record.

4. What's a pre-existing condition and how is it handled?

If your dog already has a health issue, will it be covered by the policy and what will the waiting period be, if any, before its covered?

5. How much are the deductibles?

How much are any deductibles? Is there an out of pocket maximum?

6. When is a condition a single condition?

If you dog is treated for a condition and goes back for the same thing, when is that considered a new visit with a new deductible?

7. What about major illnesses?

Some companies offer different policy levels to purchase. These more expensive options may add additional coverage for major illness, like cancer. Is this protection worth the added cost?

And now I would like to invite you to review a comprehensive list of considerations when getting a new dog by clicking this link
