What color should a healthy dogs ear wax be?

~CaT~ asked: My dog is 3 years old. And until recently his ear wax has been fine. Now it's got a brown color to it. I had him on ear mite drops, and that cleared it up alot, but his ear wax is still brown. Any ideas on why? And how can I fix this.
